Summer Forecast

July
Limits and Boundaries
This first month of summer is busy, noisy and robust as we celebrate the power of the sun, bask in the long hours of daylight and dry out from the storms of spring. The atmosphere is lighter and brighter. We may feel that we are finally getting somewhere with work matters or things that have been pending, especially projects that are home-related or issues within the family structure.

The paradox of this lighter, brighter energy is that we are likely to bump up against limits and boundaries, either our own or someone else's, as we begin to fill up larger containers of possibilities that were expanded during the spring months. Our limits and boundaries have been stretched and pushed to such an extent in some major life area that it we are only now beginning to see where the new goal posts are. This is the period where we can reset our goal posts, establish better boundaries where needed and really consider what our limitations are. If you reach a limit, be honest with yourself and those around you. The less responsibility you assume, the less power you have. Are your limitations realistic and grounded or fear based? One way of negotiating our limits is to determine what needs to be dealt with immediately, what can be set aside, what needs to be let go of, or simply let be.

The best way to align with the energy of July is to have a "one step at a time" attitude so that the gains can be anchored in something of lasting value. Proceed with cautious optimism. Forcing, worrying or rushing through something will derail results. Take one step then look around to see how things feel. Enjoy the view...take a deep breath...then take another step.

Opportunities For: Seeing some aspect of your life from a fresh perspective, integrating and anchoring changes into daily life.

Challenges: Frenetic activity, over-reacting

August
Community
This month brings into the foreground the theme of belonging: where we fit within the whole. As political, economic and natural forces rapidly reshape the world in which we live, our sense of where we need to be and who we want to be around are becoming more important to our happiness and well- being. If choices, risks and sacrifices need to be made in order for us to feel more connected to a place or a group of people, we will be weighing our options during August. If our communities are already in place, we will be spending more time than usual around our community members in order to experience our sense of belonging, even if it's just one other person and not a group.

Globally we will see many shifts as old communities of all kinds break apart and new ones form. In the US for example, displaced homeowners along the Mississippi are moving inland or to different states for economic relief. High gas prices are forcing many commuters to rethink where they live and work. Communities are changing because the organizing principles that draw people together are in a state of flux that is likely to last for a while.

At the spiritual level, we have the opportunity to penetrate the illusion of separation and experience our unity with all that is. A good time to focus on this is during the 2 week period between the solar eclipse of August 1st and the full moon eclipse of August 16, when universal energies are higher frequency and more porous. Eclipse cycles are generally more unstable and less grounded externally, giving us the opportunity to see, feel and intuit things at a deeper level. Ask Spirit to work with you during this time in any area you feel stuck, blocked, unloved, disconnected or isolated. Visualize yourself as part of the unending flow of giving and receiving love and blessings.

Opportunities For: Dissolving our differences and seeing what unites us, being where we feel we belong.

Challenges: Feeling dislocated and isolated

September
Creating new structures, new forms
Our focus for September is on creating new structures that will replace the ones that have dissolved, been released or fallen apart in the last few months. These new structures can be friendship alliances, financial plans, home improvements, personal make-overs, work related projects, office overhauls, anything that is calling to be re-vamped or in need of restructuring. We want to be building on firm foundations and managing the immediate tasks at hand. Pay attention to details. If longer term goals are being considered, a well thought out blueprint for action is recommended. We will have plenty of energy for sustained, focused activity that will bring the desired results.

The opposite side of all of this productive energy is also in the mix during September. We may have to deal with unfinished business lingering from earlier in the year that hasn't been addressed. If you feel overwhelmed by the magnitude of what has piled up, take baby steps.

Note: Mercury goes into retrograde from September 24-October 16. If you run into delays or setbacks, be patient and keep the bigger picture in mind.

Opportunities For: Productivity, getting a job done.

Challenges: Procrastination
